NO PUBLIC FUNDS FOR LNG
The House of Commons, The Government of Canada, Prime Minister Carney, and Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Gregor Robertson
WHEREAS
* Fracked methane gas and liquefied methane gas known as “LNG” has severe negative health impacts for Canadians,
* “LNG” and fossil fuels are a dead end economically for Canada as demand will peak in 2027. There is no business case for LNG.
* Ksi Lisims is 100% American- owned and LNG Canada Phase 2 is 60% foreign- owned. This is not Canadian sovereignty.
* Both Ksi Lisims and the Prince Rupert Gas Transmission (PRGT) pipeline project’s early investors are US private equity firms linked to Trump and Epstein.
* Subsidies from BCHydro for those American owned projects have already been promised. Rather than decreasing utilities costs for Canadian citizens, the average BC household will see utilities costs increase by $188 per year.
* It is likely that these MAGA and American owned fossil fuel projects will be “stranded assets” when the demand dies. The American fascist billionaires will run away with our taxpayer dollars to fund their wars (maybe even against us) without losing a penny themselves and leave us with the bill to clean up the mess.
* Ksi Lisims, PRGT, LNG Canada Phase 2 violate Indigenous sovereignty as well as Canadian sovereignty. The Gitanyow and Wet'suwet'en Hereditary Chiefs along with the Lax'Yip Firekeepers of the Gitxsan have clearly said “no consent” to these projects.
* Fracked methane gas “LNG” is destructive to local ecosystems and the larger planetary ecosystem. PRGT will disrupt and dirty currently clean salmon rivers, along with with many other disturbances to wildlife. Carbon emissions from burning the gas will heat up our planet and add to our emissions instead of reducing them.
* We need green infrastructure that builds each household’s power to net zero. Housing costs and affordability of living are rising. We need public money to go to projects for the public good, for a liveable future for all of us to the next seven generations.

* Rescind the referral of Ksi Lisims and LNG Canada Phase 2 to the Major Projects Office to be considered as Projects of National Interest (PONIs)
* DO NOT FUND, DO NOT SUBSIDIZE, NOR OTHERWISE IN ANY WAY DO NOT SUPPORT KSI LISIMS NOR LNG CANADA PHASE 2
* Instead refer Indigenous-owned, shovel ready, solar electric and other renewable energy projects to the Major Projects Office. Fund these Green PONIs and affordable housing with the Canada Infrastructure Bank and other public monies
