No War on Venezuela
Keir Starmer, Yvette Cooper
No to US threat to peace in Latin America and the Caribbean
We, the undersigned, condemn the US’s war fleet manoeuvres in the southern Caribbean Sea targeting Venezuela. They are a flagrant violation of international law and represent the latest example of intimidation and attempted regime change.
The US’s aggressive strategy, while directed at Venezuela in this instance, could be deployed against any government in Latin America and the Caribbean. For this reason, it has been condemned by countries across the region and beyond.
We urge all governments and political actors internationally to join us in opposing military intervention and all threats to peace in the region.
