Open Kingsbridge Armory for COVID19 Relief, Healthcare, Housing, Food, & Jobs Now! / ¡Abre la Armería de Kingsbridge para COVID19 Alivio, Salud, Vivienda, Alimentos y Trabajos Ahora!
NY Governor Andrew Cuomo, NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio
Español abajo.
New York State is the global epicenter of COVID-19, and the Bronx is a ticking pandemic bomb. The Kingsbridge Armory, located in the Northwest Bronx, is 180,000 square feet large -- the size of three football fields -- and has been empty since 1996. We must open and use it now to help New Yorkers in need!
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and New York City Mayor Bill De Blasio must immediately open the empty 5 acre Kingsbridge Armory to the public and provide the following community controlled resources:
1. An emergency hospital with universal healthcare;
2. Housing for the homeless, prioritizing disabled people, the elderly, Trans people, incarcerated & detained people, survivors of domestic violence, undocumented people, mentally ill people, and those suffering from asthma living in overcrowded apartments with mold and pests;
3. A mental health center with universal healthcare;
4. A food garden;
5. Immediate hiring, living wage jobs, universal healthcare, and personal protective equipment (PPE) to workers, prioritizing those laid off and unemployed during the COVID-19 crisis.
All resources provided in the Armory must be permanent, publicly funded, and community controlled, with elected collectives of community members who are not affiliated with political parties to democratically decide how to best manage these resources. We can create a community oversight committee or advisory board, for example, that consists of tenants, workers, urban farmers, and healthcare professionals. We keep us safe.

2. Vivienda para los sin hogar, dando prioridad a los discapacitados, los ancianos, los transexuales, los encarcelados y detenidos, los supervivientes de la violencia doméstica, personas sin papeles, los enfermos mentales y los que sufren de asma, viviendo en apartamentos con moho y plagas;
