Oppose the EPA's plan to weaken power plant carbon pollution standards
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
Donald Trump and his EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin announced their proposal to repeal protections that cut carbon pollution from power plants–a major source of the pollution that exacerbates climate change. These rollbacks will expose millions of Americans to more pollution, endanger our health, drive up costs and accelerate the climate crisis.
With your help, we worked hard to make these carbon pollution standards as strong as possible. Don’t let the Trump administration dismantle these life-saving protections. Sign this petition and we'll submit your comment to the EPA.
On the heels of the hottest year on record and major climate disasters like the Los Angeles fires, deadly heat waves in the Southwest, and Hurricane Helene, this administration is increasing pollution from power plants instead of taking action to protect everyone from climate change.
With their Polluters First Agenda, Trump and Zeldin are undermining the scientific basis for any climate pollution standards and replacing scientists with their partisan cronies who will carry water for the big polluters.
Don’t let Trump and EPA Administrator Zeldin deliver giveaways to big polluters at our expense. Stand strong for standards that cut climate pollution from power plants.

I'm adding my voice to the more than 1 million people who have already gone on the record in support of carbon pollution standards. I do not support the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) plan to weaken power plant carbon pollution standards, which limit carbon pollution from existing coal-fired and new gas-fired power plants.
Cutting US climate pollution is critical for slowing climate change. Power plants are a significant source of carbon pollution. The power sector is responsible for 25% of total US climate pollution and the EPA estimates that these standards would avoid 1.38 billion metric tons of carbon pollution between 2028 and 2047. They are also projected to produce $270 billion in climate benefits.
Climate change has disastrous impacts on extreme weather and public health. Extreme weather across the country is destroying communities and costing billions of dollars. At the same time, carbon pollution and climate change worsen air quality and exacerbate negative health outcomes. The EPA projects that in 2035 alone the 2024 carbon pollution standard would prevent 1,200 premature deaths, and between 2028 and 2047 it would have $120 billion in health benefits.
Every year that we do not take meaningful action, climate change worsens. Repealing the carbon pollution standards for power plants would be a massive step in the wrong direction and would expose our communities to even more harm. Protect our climate and communities and do not finalize this repeal.
Thank you.
