We, the undersigned, demand immediate action from the Rhode Island Public Utilities Commission to address the escalating utility costs that are crushing families.

Energy is not a “luxury”, it’s essential for health, safety, and dignity. Yet skyrocketing utility bills, heat shut-offs, and price gouging are forcing many households to choose between heating their homes, keeping the lights on, and putting food on the table. This is unacceptable.

Countless Rhode Islanders are being pushed to the brink by unaffordable rates, even as utility company profits reach new highs. We refuse to stand by while our neighbors suffer. It is time for the Rhode Island Public Utilities Commission to take decisive action to protect residents and ensure access to these vital services.

We demand that Rhode Island Public Utilities Commission opposes Rhode Island Energy's proposed winter rate increase on Docket No.:25-27-EL.

Opposing the increase is necessary to:

-Provide financial relief to households struggling with the high cost of living.
-Prevent heat and electricity shut-offs during the coldest months of the year.
-Hold utility companies accountable for fair and reasonable pricing.
-Ensure access to essential services for all Rhode Islanders, regardless of income.
