Our Future Surrey Pledge

If elected, I will play my part to make Surrey a thriving place to live and work. A place that’s healthier, greener and more affordable – for everyone, now and for future generations.

I pledge to champion decisions that benefit our local people and their communities, through collaborative thinking and allocation of funding and resources.

This work will support:

1. Building Healthy and Sustainable Communities

by ensuring comfortable, energy-efficient homes protected from flooding and extreme weather and encouraging local initiatives (Repair Cafes and Libraries of Things) that reduce waste, lower living costs and strengthen relationships in our communities.

2. Protecting and Enhancing Nature for Everyone

by improving access to nature and the outdoors for all, protecting and restoring local green corridors and habitats, and campaigning for improved water quality to protect our health and wellbeing.

3. Cutting Energy Bills and Creating Green Jobs

by championing initiatives to scale up home energy efficiency, renewables and promoting local take-up of job opportunities in retrofit, sustainable transport and renewable energy.

4. Making Transport Affordable, Accessible and Healthy

by advancing integrated active and public transport options and developing plans that reduce air pollution, improve road safety (particularly for children), and prioritise walking, cycling and buses.

5. Empowering Communities

by advocating for local people to participate in and have genuine influence over decisions about community energy projects, green spaces, local planning and initiatives that affect their lives.
