Parents say no to Oil Profits for Occupation, Genocide and Climate Breakdown

It’s time to once again use Parent Power to stop the Cambo oil field.

The same oil field that the UK government tried to approve while hosting COP26.

Cambo and Rosebank would send profits to one of Israel’s biggest oil companies, which operates in illegal settlements in the West Bank and supplies fuel to the Israeli military. This is a disgrace.

Adding to that, together Cambo and Rosebank would create nearly as much CO2 as the whole of the UK produces in a year. That's every car, every factory, and every home combined!

Now, Rosebank’s co-owner Ithaca Energy, have just submitted an application to the government to get Cambo approved for drilling.

The good news is we’ve been here before and won! Thousands of people across the world refused to let the approval happen and we forced Shell to pull out from the project!

Ithaca thinks they can succeed where Shell failed. With Parent Power, we’ll show them they are wrong.

We cannot stand by as North Sea extraction becomes a revenue stream to a company with links to genocide.

We write to you as parents and parent organisations to ask you once again to stop the Cambo oil field.

We, the undersigned, believe that the UK Government must:

1. Stop the flow of North Sea oil profits to companies linked to occupation and genocide in Palestine: The UK government must ensure that no profit from North Sea oil and gas exploitation goes to Ithaca Energy, or any other oil & gas companies that are complicit in the illegal occupation of Palestinian territories, or companies that provide services to the Israeli military. It can do this by denying permission to develop fossil fuel projects for Ithaca Energy, including rejecting the Rosebank oil field and future applications for the Cambo oil field.

2. Help end the genocide in Gaza and Israel's occupation of Palestine: The UK government must ensure Israel's genocidal attacks on Gaza permanently cease; implement an arms embargo on Israel; employ every diplomatic tool to help end the siege, genocide and ensure humanitarian aid access to Gaza, and to bring to an end Israel's system of apartheid.

We are incredibly concerned about Cambo and Rosebank oil fields. Letting these projects go ahead is at odds with global leadership on climate and human rights. As parents and carers we can't stand by and let this happen.
