To create the kind of change our communities are demanding, Congress must pass HR1 - The For the People Act - a once-in-a-generation democracy reform package to clean up our political system, get big money out of politics, hold elected officials accountable for corruption, expand and protect voting rights, and create a democracy that values the voices of all Americans.
Over the past decade, dominance of big money in politics, political gerrymandering and rampant corruption has boosted the voices of corporations and wealthy while silencing the voices of the American people.
The For the People Act (HR 1) is a once-in-a-generation package of proven reforms that would:
- Expand and protect voting rights and access to the ballot;
- Put ordinary Americans ahead of Big Money donors;
- End gerrymandering so that electoral districts are fairly drawn;
- Clean up government and hold elected officials to the highest ethical standards.
The American people are tired of a government that serves only the wealthy and corporate interests and demand a democracy that works for all of us.

In order to rebuild and heal this nation, we need to start with a solid foundation that protects our democracy. That is why I am urging you, President Joe Biden and members of the 117th Congress, to pass the For the People Act (HR1) — an overhaul of voting, elections, money-in-politics, and ethics laws that will make our democracy more inclusive, more representative, and less partisan.

We need a democracy where voters are protected from discrimination and have access to making their voices heard at the ballot box. We need a democracy where electoral districts are drawn fairly and people are put before profit. We need a democracy where Womxn, Black, Indigenous and people of color, and working people, can run for office without relying on big corporate dollars so that our democracy can fully represent the people.
