Pay Marlins Park Concessions Workers
CEO of the Miami Marlins, Derek Jeter
My name is Duane Thwaites and I’ve worked serving food at Marlins Ballpark since it opened. I’m proud to work for the park and to provide an amazing experience to our fans.
On March 17, 2020 news broke that the Miami Marlins were pledging 1 million to assist workers during the coronavirus shut down. But over 400 subcontracted concessions workers in UNITE HERE Local 355 like myself haven’t received anything. Marlins fans can act now: Tell Marlins owners to support Marlins Park concessions workers as we weather this crisis.
We are proud to be on the frontlines of the Marlins Park experience, but until we’re back in the stands and behind the beer taps, we need to hit this one out of the park for concessions workers.
Sign the petition today calling on Marlins CEO, Derek Jeter, to support Marlins concessions and premium workers through the COVID-19 pandemic.

UNITE HERE Local 355 and it's supporters call on Miami Marlins CEO Derek Jeter to support Marlins concession workers through the COVID-19 pandemic.
Nothing can reopen until we tackle this public health crisis head-on. Seeking new part-time or full-time work within the food service industry is unlikely to yield results as schools, restaurants, and hotels close to reduce the spread of the virus. Seeking work at this time and working in the food service industry may also prove deadly to Marlins Park concessions workers as the virus continues to spread. Paying workers who are staying at home to help solve this crisis helps ensure no one has to face unnecessary financial burdens or health risks during this already difficult time.
Once this crisis is resolved, UNITE HERE Local 355 members look forward to going back to doing what they love; feeding the amazing Marlins fans, and going back to serving the game and the city they love.
