Pennsbury Student Lunch Debt Cancellation and Free Lunch

Even though Pennsylvania implemented a universal free breakfast program to 1.7 million students, thousands of students continue to go hungry and amass lunch debt.

Despite the federal government and school district's best efforts, Pennsbury has around $139,000 of student lunch debt. The school district qualifies for the CEP program, which would partially reimburse them if they were to provide free lunch to all students no matter their income level.

We believe that all students deserve to eat without their parents feeling the crushing weight of debt. We strongly urge Pennsbury School District to make lunches free for all students and pay off all existing lunch debt.

As the affordability crisis persists, working class Americans are struggling to pay for housing, utilities, and healthcare. We need to relieve student lunch debt and provide free lunches so that working class Americans can live fulfilled lives.

We, working class families and students who are burdened by debt, strongly urge that the school board vote to cancel student lunch debt and submit a CEP notification to the Pennsylvania state agency.
