Petition to Stop Harassment of Parent Leaders By Elected Officials

The recent #Ceasefire Day of Action is being spun to promote a targeted attack against one of our strongest and most dedicated parent leaders, Tajh Sutton of CEC14. Council Member Eric Dinowitz and Assembly Member Stacy Pheffer Amato have launched a full scale attack demanding the Chancellor to remove an elected parent leader from the public body which she leads to advocate for all families. This overreach by these elected officials includes reinforcing Mayoral Control and updating the State Law that governs Community Education Councils to hinder our rights to freedom of speech. We are seeing similar tactics being utilized in Congress with the recent censure of Rep Rashida Tlaib during her plea for a humane response as a Palestinian-American. The current use of strong-arm tactics to punish parent leaders, educators and students violates individuals right to speech. If we allow those in power and influence to use their platforms to censor parent voice, where will it stop? We ask that you please stand with us and sign this petition demanding our elected officials cease their attacks on an elected parent leader, on freedom of speech and set an example by protecting vulnerable parents, students and staff. #WeStandWithTajh
