Our community is not safe. Every day, mothers and fathers risk leaving home, not knowing if this will be the last time they will see their family, because they are driving without a licence. What may appear as a simple traffic violation can turn into an arrest, detention, and deportation. A drivers licence can make us feel safe; that is why we are launching our 2021 campaign demanding driver’s licenses for all in Indiana in the first week of the General Assembly. Immigrants sustain this country through their labor and economic contributions, and deserve basic rights that would ensure the safety of themselves and their families. Undocumented immigrants are tired of waiting for broken promises and basic rights. Enough broken promises! Movimiento Cosecha demands the respect, dignity and permanent protection of all undocumneted individuals, starting with drivers licenses in the state of Indiana. We invite everyone to join us in the struggle, to uplift our voices and to fight alongside us towards our fight for liberation.
