STAND WITH PLATFORM WORKERS

Every day, you rely on platform workers.

When you order a ride, someone gets you to your destination safely. When you order food, someone delivers it to your doorstep. When you scroll through social media, someone has spent hours reviewing harmful content to make those platforms safer. When you use AI tools, someone has helped train, label, and improve the data that makes these technologies work.

The digital economy runs on human labour.

Yet many of the workers powering these services lack basic protections that most people would consider fundamental at work. Many face low and unpredictable earnings, unfair account suspensions, unsafe working conditions, long hours, and limited access to healthcare, social protection, or the ability to collectively advocate for better conditions.

Governments, employers, and workers are gathered at the 114th International Labour Conference in Geneva from 1st June to 12th June to discuss a convention to realise decent work in the platform economy. We ask the public to stand with the workers behind the apps, platforms, and technologies that we use every day.

People make technology work.

What Platform Workers Are Asking For

We believe every platform worker deserves:

Recognition and Protection
Platform workers should be recognised as workers and accorded fundamental rights.

Fair Pay
Workers should earn enough to live with dignity and should know how their pay is calculated.

Safe Working Conditions
No one should have to risk their physical or mental well-being to earn a living.

Protection from Unfair Treatment
Workers should not lose their income because of unexplained suspensions, deactivations, or automated decisions they cannot challenge.

The Right to Organise
Platform workers should be free to come together, join unions and advocate for better conditions.

Access to Social Protection
Workers deserve access to healthcare, injury protection, maternity protection and other basic social safeguards.

Add Your Name

Most of us use digital platforms every day. Few of us stop to think about the people whose labour keeps them running.

By adding your name, you are standing with platform workers and supporting a future of work that values fairness, dignity, and human rights.

The services we rely on should not be built on human rights violations.

Stand with platform workers by asking your government to vote for a convention that protects them.

We call on governments, employers and workers' representatives participating in the 114th International Labour Conference to support strong protections for platform workers.

Every day, platform workers power the services and technologies that we rely on. Yet many continue to face insecure work, unfair treatment and limited access to basic labour protections.

As discussions on the future of platform work continue in Geneva, we urge you to place workers' rights, dignity and wellbeing at the centre of any international framework for the platform economy.

The services we rely on should not be built on human rights violations.
