We, the tenants of Pleasant Hills Apartments, 4510 2nd St NE, write to you as members of the Pleasant Hills Tenants Association to express our deep frustration and growing concern over the unacceptable conditions of our homes. The persistent neglect of our building’s maintenance has left us living in deplorable conditions that compromise our health, safety, and quality of life.
Rodents and roaches roam freely throughout the buildings. Broken windows allow cold air to seep into apartments with already struggling heaters, making our homes unbearable during the winter months. Many tenants are forced to store food in ice coolers due to broken refrigerators that remain unfixed for days. Ceilings leak during rainstorms, tiles are falling off walls, and broken plumbing and outdated electrical systems create constant hazards. Maintenance requests are often ignored, or when acknowledged, are left incomplete.
These issues are urgent and cannot be ignored any longer. We demand that Ross Management take immediate action to address the following critical concerns:
Eliminate pests: Conduct comprehensive and regular extermination treatments for all buildings to eradicate roaches and rodents.
Repair windows: Replace all broken windows, both in individual apartments and in building lobbies, to improve safety and energy efficiency.
Restore appliances: Replace all malfunctioning ovens and refrigerators with functional units.
Fix structural damage: Replace broken tiles and repair fixtures in bathrooms and kitchens.
Upgrade essential systems: Update plumbing and electrical systems to ensure safety and functionality for all tenants.
We expect a written response outlining your plans to address these demands no later than January 31, 2025. Failure to respond or take immediate action will leave us no choice but to escalate our concerns through legal avenues, media attention, and tenant-led actions.
We hope you will take this opportunity to demonstrate your commitment to providing safe and livable homes for all tenants of Pleasant Hills Apartments.
