Please Support Heat Pumps for All in the FY27 City Budget
City Council Speaker Julie Menin & Finance Committee Chair Linda Lee
New York City has an opportunity to make life more affordable for working families while taking meaningful action on climate change.
The proposed Heat Pumps for All initiative would invest $10 million to help 1,000 one- and two-family homeowners upgrade to energy-efficient heat pumps. This program would lower utility bills, reduce strain on the electric grid, and help New Yorkers keep more money in their pockets.
The initiative is championed by Council Member James Gennaro and supported by labor unions, including Steamfitters Local 638, as well as environmental and community organizations across the city.
We urge Speaker Julie Menin and Finance Chair Linda Lee to prioritize funding for Heat Pumps for All during budget negotiations. This pilot program is a smart investment in affordability, energy savings, and a healthier future for our communities.
Add your name today and tell City Hall: Fund Heat Pumps for All. Put money back into the pockets of working homeowners and help build a cleaner, more affordable New York City for everyone.

[Your Name]
Speaker Menin and Finance Chair Lee,
We want to first thank you for your bold leadership as Speaker and Finance Chair in delivering a New York City that is fairer and more affordable. Your continued advocacy is important and valuable for all working families in the five boroughs.
I am reaching out to voice support for the Heat Pumps for All initiative currently in the City Council. The pilot would provide $10 million for 1,000 single and double family homes to upgrade their heat pumps, saving money on utilities and energy for the grid. The program is being championed by Council Member Gennaro, and is a top priority for several unions, like Steamfitters Local 638, and championed by NYCC and Food & Water Watch, with the support of the NYC CLC.
We ask you to remember this program as you continue budget negotiations and see this for the opportunity it is: a chance to put money in-the-pockets of working homeowners and address the climate crisis.
Thank you for your continued advocacy, and for making affordability a top priority to union members like me.
