Pledge: I Will Vote Against Any Board Member Who Closes Our Schools.
Jose Magana - Board President, Brian Wheatley - Board Vice President, Carla Collins - Board Member, Teresa Castellanos - Board Member, Nicole Gribstad - Board Member
On March 12th, the SJUSD Board of Education will hold a vote, and may decide to close multiple Elementary Schools. Let's make sure the Board Members remember what our kids have learned in our wonderful schools: Actions have consequences, and the consequence of voting to close ANY school will be felt in November. Two board members (Jose Magana and Brian Wheatley) are up for re-election this year, the others will be up for re-election two years from now. All of them should be held accountable for their votes on March 12th.
By signing this petition, or "Voter Pledge" you pledge to vote against any Board Member based on their vote on March 12th during the Board meeting. The Board has the option of not closing any schools, they reiterated multiple times that this is not a funding issue.

I, a resident and/or parent within the San Jose Unified School District, hereby pledge that my vote in the upcoming November 2026 election (and all subsequent elections) will be determined by the protection of our neighborhood schools.
I pledge to vote AGAINST any Board Member who casts a 'YES' vote on March 12, 2026, to close or consolidate any elementary school against the expressed will of that school's community.
Our schools are the heart of our neighborhoods and the foundation of our property values. We demand that the Board find fiscal solutions through administrative restructuring and creative revenue generation rather than displacing our children and dismantling our communities.
