Tell the EPA to do its job by protecting us from power plant pollution

Environmental Protection Agency

This summer – the hottest on record – Americans lived through a heat dome, tornado outbreaks across the Midwest, and wildfires tearing through the communities throughout the country. Donald Trump and his EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin are doubling down on this destruction and suffering by striking down limits on power plants, one of the largest sources of climate-change causing pollutants. They are ignoring scientific consensus and abandoning the EPA’s core mission. Adding insult to injury, they are trying to block future administrations from reversing the damage.

Tell the EPA to reverse course and start doing its job by protecting the environment and putting the American people’s interests ahead of the billionaire polluters.

I'm writing to urge you not to revoke the Environmental Protection Agency's authority to regulate climate pollution from power plants.

The EPA is supposed to protect people and the environment, not rewrite the rules to protect polluters’ profits. My health and safety are not expendable.

If the EPA succeeds in eliminating federal limits on power plant climate pollution, millions of Americans will get sicker, face more extreme weather, and pay more for energy and electricity. And we all know that the most vulnerable communities, with the least resources, will suffer the most.

Carbon pollution from power plants is the second-largest source of climate pollution in the U.S.. Scientists overwhelmingly agree that carbon pollution is fueling the climate crisis, with devastating impacts on communities across the country. We've all seen it with our own eyes this summer and experienced it through extreme heat, wildfires, drought, and damaging storms.

Every year, we suffer even more frequent and devastating disasters. That’s why it’s so critical that the EPA return to its core mission of protecting people, not polluters and limiting the pollution that causes climate change.

The EPA exists to protect me, my family and all Americans from pollution. I urge you to uphold that mission by abandoning this dangerous proposal. Please protect EPA standards that cut climate pollution from power plants.

Thank you.
