Dear San Diego County Board of Supervisors,

We urge you to protect and sustain funding for the LGBTQIA‑affirming Innovative Adult Housing Services program in the FY 2026–2027 County budget.

LGBTQIA+ people—especially immigrant, transgender, nonbinary, and BIPOC community members—experience disproportionately high rates of housing instability. The services provided by the Innovative Adult Housing Services program are often the only safe and affirming options available.

This housing program operated by The San Diego LGBT Community Center and the North County LGBTQ Resource Center has already helped more than a thousand San Diegans stay housed or find stable housing. These services are effective, cost‑efficient, and deeply needed across the region. When the County invests in affirming housing, people stay safer, healthier, and connected to their communities.

We ask the Board to sustain the $1.6 million program allocation to keep these life‑saving services in place. At a time when LGBTQIA+ people and immigrants are facing increasing threats to their livelihood from the federal government, San Diego County has the responsibility to provide stability and safety at the local level.

Our community thrives when everyone has a safe place to call home. We ask you to continue investing in the LGBTQIA+ housing programs that make that possible.
