For too long, corporate park owners have used their control over the land under our homes to jeopardize our housing security, strip away our equity, and destabilize our communities.

Here’s what’s at stake:

• Affordability: Residents cannot afford rising rents. Without strong protections, seniors, families, and people on fixed incomes face displacement from the city they have called home for decades.

• Loss of Equity: When space rents rise faster than incomes, our homes lose market value. As a result, many of us cannot sell at a fair price — meaning years of savings and investment vanish overnight.

• Loss of Community/Stability: Each forced move breaks apart our neighborhoods, weakens our support networks, and erodes the diverse fabric of San Leandro.

The Urgency Ordinance will stop park owners from rushing through rent hikes and other harmful changes before the permanent protections take effect. The Revised RSO will close loopholes, strengthen rent caps, and ensure fair rules that protect all residents.
