Protect Students: Ban Corporal Punishment in Schools
U.S. Congress
A school district in Missouri has been making national news for implementing a new corporal punishment policy that permits the use of physical force to discipline children in schools. This policy shames and brutalizes students. The spotlight is now on 19 states across the country where corporal punishment is still legal because the United States has not banned this abuse!
The American Psychology Association (APA) points to numerous studies that affirm we need to wrap our kids in love and protection rather than fear of physical (and psychological) harm at school.
Sign to tell Congress to pass the federal Ending Corporal Punishment in Schools Act now! 30 countries around the world have already banned this cruelty towards children—the United States should join them.

Cassville R-IV School District in Missouri has been making news for a policy allowing for corporal punishment. Corporal punishment is still legal in 19 states despite the fact that it, hurts kids and does nothing to change poor behavior. The American Psychology Association (APA) points to many studies that show that physical punishment can lead to increased aggression, antisocial behavior, and physical injury and mental health problems for children. This is a national problem that needs a federal solution.
We urge you to pass the Ending Corporal Punishment in Schools Act. Violence against kids has no place in our schools.
