Put an End to the Litigation Against Blue Violets Dispensary

The endless and seemingly vindictive litigation by Liz Urtecho and "Hoboken for Responsible Cannabis" has gone on long enough. Blue Violets has operated its small cannabis dispensary in Hoboken since April 2024 responsibly and without incident. This is a small business run by a local couple, Lauren and Max Thompson, and is well loved by many Hoboken residents. Please stop the campaign to close them down, and let them operate their business without having to spend their time and money trying to fend off baseless legal challenges.

Dear Ms. Urtecho, Members of Hoboken for Responsible Cannabis, and Council Member Fisher,
We are concerned Hoboken residents and community members who call on Liz Urtecho, “Hoboken for Responsible Cannabis,” and Council Member Tiffanie Fisher to immediately drop, or publicly support immediately dropping, the baseless lawsuit and appeal to the New Jersey Supreme Court currently being pursued by Ms. Urtecho and Hoboken for Responsible Cannabis that has unfairly harmed Blue Violets, a respected small business and locally owned and operated micro-cannabis dispensary.
This lawsuit has gone on long enough. The Hoboken City Council has now clarified Hoboken’s cannabis ordinance to make crystal clear that Blue Violets is legally permitted to operate at its current location at 628 Washington Street, the location where it has served our community without issue since April 2024. Indeed, the New Jersey Appellate Division ruled against Ms. Urtecho and Hoboken for Responsible Cannabis in a unanimous 29-page decision that Blue Violets has every right to operate at its current location — despite your arguments to the contrary.
Blue Violets is a responsible, upstanding neighbor in our community. We join the majority of the Hoboken City Council, which has formally called on you to immediately, voluntarily end this lawsuit against Blue Violets, or in the case of Ms. Fisher, to use her platform and association with Ms. Urtecho to call for the end of this harassing litigation.
Blue Violets has already wasted more than $100,000 on legal fees opposing Ms. Urtecho and Hoboken for Responsible Cannabis’s misguided lawsuit. Please leave the owners of this small business alone. Let Blue Violets’ owners invest in their business and invest in our community, and not waste any more money on unnecessary legal fees addressing this case.
