Put the CT Environmental Rights Amendment on the Ballot

Majority and Minority Leadership of the CT General Assembly, including the House and Senate

Our rights to the essential life support systems of clean and healthy air, water, soil, ecosystems, and environment, and a safe and stable climate are not protected in our state constitution as the fundamental human rights they are. The CT Environmental Rights Amendment would put these rights into our state constitution and call on the state to protect these rights equitably across race, ethnicity, gender, tribal affiliation, socioeconomic status and geography. It would also protect our natural resources for present and future generations.  We need to have our legislators pass the resolution for the CT Environmental Rights Amendment so that it can go on the ballot for a referendum of the people.

Environmental rights are basic human rights, just like free speech and freedom of religion. Our state constitution must guarantee environmental equity for all. We must ensure that every person has a right to clean and healthy air, water, soil, and environment, and a stable climate. We are calling on the CT legislature to support the CT Environmental Rights Amendment now!
