Re-Fund the JP Centre/South Transportation Action Plan

The first three years of Mayor Wu's first term brought impressive advances to making Boston's streets safer and more liveable. But it all stopped in 2025, after a bruising and extremely sophisticated ‘bikelash’ campaign bankrolled by a Boston multi-millionaire. Since then, Jamaica Plain's long-awaited redesign plan for Centre St. / South St. - the heart and lungs of our community - has been stalled and defunded, alongside countless other safe streets projects. The plan’s goal was to improve the speed and efficiency of the 39 bus, the 4th highest ridership route, and the safety of bikers and pedestrians. The work was already in progress and thousands of tax payer dollars have already been spent on the initial analysis. Scrapping the project now means all that money and effort will have been spent for nothing.
Tell Mayor Wu, Councilor Ben Weber, and Chief of Streets Chris Osgood: we deserve a safer and more efficient Centre St. and South St. Urge them to move forward with and re-fund the JP Centre/South Transportation Action Plan!

I am pushing for the renewal and refunding of the Jamaica Plain Centre / South Transportation Action Plan.
The redesign of Centre and South St. is increasingly necessary. Not only has Centre St. been identified as one of the high-crash corridors for bikers in Boston, but Centre and South St. also host the 39 bus, the 4th highest ridership route in the city, which consistently is delayed and slowed down by the streets' extreme traffic congestion. Cutting and defunding the Action Plan, towards which taxpayer dollars have already been spent, sends the message that public transportation, and all who use it, are not a priority for the city, and neither are the lives of bikers.
We are asking you to reaffirm your commitments to helping Boston become a greener, more accessible, and safer city by renewing and refunding the JP Centre and South redesign plan as soon as possible.
