Reinstate Ashley Rzonca and Leah Lin – Stand Up for District 30 Educators and Our Students!

United Federation of Teachers (UFT) Leadership, UFT President Michael Mulgrew, and UFT Queens Borough Representative Tabio DaCruz,

Ashley Rzonca and Leah Lin have been tireless advocates for District 30 teachers, students, and families, and now they’ve been unjustly removed from their roles as UFT representatives. Their termination is not only a blow to the educators they represent, but a direct attack on the voices who have consistently spoken out for what’s right in our schools. Stand with us to demand their immediate reinstatement.

To: United Federation of Teachers (UFT) Leadership, UFT President Michael Mulgrew, and UFT Queens Borough Representative Tabio DaCruz,
From: [Your Name]

We, the undersigned members of the District 30 community, including educators, families, and advocates, are deeply troubled by the unjust termination of Ashley Rzonca and Leah Lin from their positions within the United Federation of Teachers. Their removal is not only unjust, but it silences two of the most consistent and informed advocates for our schools, our teachers, and most importantly, our students.

Ashley and Leah have been fearless champions of public education and have shown up for this district time and again. They have:
• Spoken at District 30 Community Education Council (CEC) meetings to support transparency and collaboration between families and schools.
• Shared vital UFT resources with parents and community stakeholders.
• Provided guidance to help CEC members and the broader public better understand complex legislative issues impacting our schools.
• Advocated for District 30 Teachers, Students, and Parents publicly and vocally at the Panel for Educational Policy (PEP) and lobbied our state elected officials in Albany.

Supported CEC 30 resolutions on key issues such as:
• Opposing the expansion of the charter school cap;
• Advocating for full and equitable school funding;
• Supporting the class size mandate;
• Speaking out against unchecked mayoral control; and
• Promoting student safety through improved traffic safety around school zones.

Their advocacy has earned them the deep respect and support of educators, families, and elected officials across our district.

We call on the UFT and all relevant decision-makers to reverse this decision immediately.

Removing Ashley and Leah is a loss not only for the UFT, but for the children and families who depend on their courage and clarity in an increasingly complex educational landscape.

District 30 deserves leaders who reflect our values, fight for our communities, and stand up when it matters most.

Ashley and Leah have done exactly that, and they must be reinstated immediately.
