For 30 years, museum educators and sales staff at the History Center have had paid breaks. This system has worked well, allowing for flexibility in the schedule and for workers to have a break and still staff all the wonderful programs and shops in the building.

MNHS Management has recently made these breaks unpaid, robbing workers of time, which can mean hours lost per pay period. Both part and full time staff are affected by this, and because of the limited hours of operation of the History Center, these frontline workers are already struggling to get enough hours to pay the bills.

Minnesota Historical Society union members and supporters hereby ask that the 30 year past practice of paid breaks be reinstated.

In solidarity,
Local 3173 MnHS Workers Union
