Rep. Ivey - stop arming Israel!

Congressman Glenn Ivey

Between attacks on civilians, ethnic cleansing, and intentional/forced starvation, Israel has made plain to the world their intentions to destroy the Palestinian people. Congressman Glenn Ivey, the Member of Congress who represent's Maryland's Congressional District 4, has repeatedly excused these moves by Israel -- largely due to the fact that a pro-Israel lobbying group (AIPAC) spent over $7 MILLION to help him win his primary (and therefore his seat in Congress) in 2022.

No amount of money is worth starving an entire people and committing genocide. We demand better from our leaders than remaining silent in the face of starvation -- we're calling on Congressman Ivey to break his silence and to break from his AIPAC funders to put an end to military funding for Israel immediately.

Our communities in Prince George’s County are trying to weather a great deal right now, as you know, and the Republican-led Congress is creating even more crises as they cut funding from critical programs.

It’s disappointing that your response to this situation is to support billions and billions of tax dollars to fund Israel’s ongoing ethnic cleansing in Palestine. This includes over $370 million dollars from Maryland taxpayers, including over $1.7 million from Greenbelt, over $1.8 million from Suitland, and nearly $1.5 million from College Park. (source)

Gaza is experiencing one of the biggest mass starvation crises in modern history. As of July 13, the UN confirmed 875 Palestinians were killed while seeking food -- 201 on aid routes and the rest at distribution points. Sending aid to Israel does nothing to support global peace, health, or security -- or the interests of the American people. Israel actively works against these goals.

With the lock down of Gaza, Israel has undermined basic human rights norms, nearly embroiled the U.S. in an unnecessary war with Iran, and demonstrated tremendous bad faith in their engagement of international diplomacy. Their recent actions -- pre-empting diplomatic negotiations with attacks on Iran, continuing to limit aid to starving civilians in Gaza, and murdering Palestinians trying to get that aid -- make their genocidal motives and unchecked aggression very plain. The U.S. cannot continue to give Israel a blank check.

This is not just our view – as recent polling demonstrates, the majority of Americans, and a strong majority of Democrats, now express negative opinions of Israel. Half say that the U.S. is favoring Israel “too much.” And over a third of American Jews -- in whose name so much of this money has been given -- share that sentiment. (source)

I am writing to ask you to vote ‘No’ on any bills in Congress that send more funds to Israel. This money directly supports an ongoing ethnic cleansing, apartheid, and an increasingly dire humanitarian crisis that has been going on for over a year and a half. If you continue to support these bills, then I will support a different Congressional candidate in 2026 who does not support these atrocities and who represents their constituents.
