Respect Veolia workers’ right to choose their own union!

Veolia CEO Estelle Brachlianoff and Tom Hunt, Leader of Sheffield City Council

Refuse workers are taking industrial action because their employer, Veolia, will not respect their right to choose their own union. They are all Unite members and make up a significant number of the workforce – but Veolia refuses to negotiate with Unite over pay and conditions.

Before Christmas an agreement was reached to recognise these workers’ union Unite, but at the last minute Veolia withdrew the deal.

Managers have tried to bully workers into submission and have sacked an elected workplace representative, plus three other Unite members.

Veolia and Sheffield Council have to stop the union-busting.

Please show your support and sign this petition now. Tell Veolia to:

  • Respect the wishes of its workforce and sign the collective bargaining agreement that was reached with Unite in Sheffield
  • Senior management in Paris to step in to resolve the dispute and end union-busting tactics
