Reclaim our economies for people and planet
Political leaders
For too long, the rules of the global economy have been written by and for the few elites, billionaires and multinationals. Our leaders have measured success through GDP growth. But GDP is nothing more than a crude sum of certain types of economic activity. The “growth at all costs” model counts oil spills, deforestation, and overwork as “progress”, while ignoring care, community, wellbeing and the planet.
From Indigenous Communities protecting land to youth demanding climate justice, people everywhere are practicing and imagining a different future - one where economies serve people, planet and shared prosperity, not profit.
We call on our leaders to go beyond GDP and commit to a global transformation that delivers rights, justice, and a fulfilling life on a safe planet.
Add your name to demand that our leaders redesign our economies in service of people and planet. We'll pass this onto heads of states and use it at key moments throughout the year to show the scale of demand for change around the world.

Together, we can build economies that serve life — not profit.

We call on leaders at all levels to think beyond GDP and commit to a global transformation that delivers rights, justice, and a fulfilling life on a safe planet. That means:
🎯Avoid extractivism and foster citizens and communities’ participation to create meaningful goals to drive economic decision-making.
💰 Bring democratic control to the financial system: Taxing the 1%, cancel the illegitimate debts imposed on the Global South, end austerity and financial colonialism and reinvest in public services, care, and climate justice.
🌍 Just and equitable transitions to renewable energy and sustainable sovereign food systems now and for future generations.
🌿 Restore the commons: Protecting and restoring land, forest, ocean ecosystems and Indigenous and traditional territories.
✊ Reclaim the economy from corporations, holding them accountable for environmental destruction, labour abuses, and human rights violations.
