Chairperson Matos Rodriguez, President Cordero-Guzman, and Chief Officer Piecora:

The Research Foundation of CUNY is failing in its basic obligation to its workers! Due to RF management’s rushed, flawed rollout of the new “OneRF” administrative software, RF project employees have missed paychecks, leaving them to struggle to pay their bills. This is part of a long standing pattern of the RF failing to pay or reimburse employees and grantees on time. Grant-funded projects have had to scramble to meet deadlines and renew grants and fill positions. Employees at the RF Central Office are overworked, undertrained, and not properly compensated for all of the additional work and responsibilities created by the new system. Despite repeated requests for information, guidance, and support, the RF’s workers and the vital grant-funded projects that depend on them are left in chaos. To add insult to injury, RF management is still refusing to pay many RF project employees at the Graduate Center, School of Labor and Urban Studies, New York City Tech, and LaGuardia Community College the backpay and one-time lump sum payments to which they are entitled under a contract negotiated last year. Enough is enough!

We demand that RF-CUNY:

∎ Pay all RF workers accurately and on time.

∎ Adequately compensate RF Central Office employees for additional work and responsibilities.

∎ Reimburse workers for any late fees and other charges incurred as a result of the RF’s failure to pay them on time.

∎ Provide meaningful and comprehensive training and guidance on OneRF to all RF employees and project managers.

∎ Hire more trained staff to ensure effective implementation of OneRF.

∎Set realistic timelines for implementation of new procedures and systems in consultation with all stakeholders.

∎ Ensure that RF workers will not receive negative evaluations and other repercussions because RF leadership failed to roll out the new system effectively.

∎Immediately pay all unionized RF project employees the backpay and lump-sum payments to which they are entitled under the contract.
