New York City Council

Both freelance and full-time workers must have the right to disconnect from their daily grind without fear of losing their job, making New York City a place where you work to live, not live to work.

For too long, we have allowed technology to blur the line between work hours and off hours. It is time to strike a clear line so that New Yorkers can disconnect and recharge, rather than compelling them to be “on call” 24/7.

Today, we’re holding a City Council hearing on that legislation because it’s time to move forward.

Sign the petition calling on the City Council to pass and enact the Right to Disconnect, and please feel free to share your personal story in the comment section.

Please pass legislation giving New Yorkers the right to disconnect in their off hours. Both freelance and full-time workers must have the right to disconnect from their daily grind without fear of losing their job, making New York City a place where you work to live, not live to work.
