Safer pedestrian crossing for Bare Lane

Lancashire County Council

We are parents who are very concerned that a child is going to be injured when crossing Bare Lane to get to or from school. Bare Lane is a 30mph road and the current crossing provision (pictured) is inadequate. Drivers often speed and when the crossing at Bare station goes up there can be a long line of traffic passing.

A zebra crossing or a school crossing patrol service would help keep children safe and also help drivers by encouraging pedestrians to cross at a single place.

A permanent crossing would also benefit elderly and disabled residents, or which there are a higher than average proportion in Bare and Torrisholme.

Please investigate the potential to install a zebra crossing on Bare Lane and/or provide a school crossing patrol service, in order to keep children and other pedestrians safe and to give more certainty to drivers as to where pedestrians will cross.
