SAMPLE PETITION - Plastic Free July 2023: "Plastic is Hazardous"

LEGISLATOR

This Plastic-Free July, we want you to join us in making sure that YOUR TARGET LEGISLATOR gets the message about reducing single-use plastic pollution. Sign our petition to LEGISLATOR and join us at their office on Thursday, July 27 at TIME.

Given that plastic production is currently expected to triple by 2050 and ocean plastic pollution is doubling every 6 years, it's clear that we need to stop making and using so much plastic. Less than 6% of plastic are recycled and then only a couple of times before being burned, buried or borne to sea. Plastic recycling cannot solve our plastic pollution crisis.

Individual action can not stop this plastic crisis. We need policy change.

So here's what we're going to do this Plastic-Free July: first, sign this petition to LEGISLATOR urging them to INSERT ACTION HERE. Then, save up your discarded plastic packaging and bring it to LEGISLATOR's OFFICE on EVENT DATE to show that you're serious about reducing plastic in CITY/STATE.

We'll share more details via email once you've registered but please note that this event will be both peaceful and respectful.

Sign up now to join us on July EVENT DATE at EVENT TIME outside the LEGISLATIVE OFFICE NAME at OFFICE ADDRESS.

Don't forget to bring all your single-use plastic packaging with you.
