We, the undersigned, call upon the San Diego Airport Authority to immediately halt all military cargo shipments from San Diego International Airport to Israel and end our County’s complicity in the ongoing genocide of Gaza.
Between January and September 2025, multiple shipments of military cargo have flown out of SAN to Israel, including F-35 fighter jet components used to drop 2,000 pound bombs on the people of Gaza. Over the course of this period, at least 20 shipments have been confirmed to have landed at Israel's Nevatim Air Force Base. Shipments have been leaving our civilian airports, hidden from city officials, union members, and everyday constituents.
International organizations and legal experts have determined that Israel is committing acts that constitute genocide under international law. Most recently, the United Nations Independent International Commission of Inquiry concluded that Israel’s actions in Gaza meet the legal definition of genocide and urged governments to cease transfers of arms and other equipment that may be used for Israel’s genocidal acts. These findings place urgent legal and moral grounds on these demands: San Diego must not allow its infrastructure to be complicit in the ongoing genocide of Gaza.
San Diego International Airport, a vital hub for our County, a center for commerce and tourism, is also complicit in genocide. Military shipments leaving the airport fuel violence and destruction across the globe. By contrast, San Diego's historic identity as a multicultural hub and sanctuary county makes it a haven of resettlement and refuge for all peoples. This flourishing and innovation stems from these diverse communities, which actively contribute to the local economy and development of the region.
As business owners, working professionals, taxpayers, and community members we demand that our representatives continue to uphold these same values. Over the past two years, San Diego has clearly demonstrated its firm stand against genocide through coordinated mobilizations and targeted actions, with one clear message - End San Diego's involvement in genocide!
Two momentous resolutions were passed in San Diego County. In March of 2024 the City of Lemon Grove unanimously passed a Ceasefire Resolution calling for an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza. Moreover in August 2025, the San Diego and Imperial Counties Labor Council, set precedent by being the first labor council in the nation to condemn the actions of Israel and demand an immediate end to US weapons transfers.
We applaud the City of Lemon Grove and the Labor Council for listening to the voices of the people and supporting a ceasefire in Gaza through concrete resolutions. As violence continues to escalate with impunity, we call on the San Diego Airport Authority to take bold action to end all military shipments to Israel, becoming the first County in the nation to enact such an arms embargo.
We call on the Airport Authority to uphold the highest standards of accountability by ensuring full transparency in San Diego's operations and public disclosure of all current and future military-related shipments passing through San Diego International Airport or utilizing county infrastructure. San Diego residents have a right to transparency and assurance that our county’s facilities are not used in contradiction to our values and violate international human rights.
San Diego’s resources should prioritize our community needs, not enable ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people.
Our public civilian infrastructure should not be used to facilitate daily massacres in Gaza.
Our beloved county of San Diego should not be a facilitator of genocide in Gaza.
Our Demands:
1. Immediately cease all military cargo shipments from San Diego International Airport to Israel.
2. Implement an arms embargo through a permanent ordinance of ethical procurement that prohibits and restricts the transportation of military cargo and supplies through San Diego’s public finances and infrastructure.
3. Create governmental processes of accountability and transparency to ensure San Diego is not complicit with genocide worldwide.
