Save Lambeth Schools

Claire Holland, Leader of Lambeth Council

Lambeth council have announced plans to close two Lambeth primary school, and merge six others.

We need current and future governments to step in and save our schools. Together we can make education funding a key election issue.

We demand that Lambeth council drop these plans.

Lambeth council have announced plans to close two Lambeth primary school, and merge six others. This comes on top of Lambeth losing two of the oldest secondary schools in London this academic year.

Rising housing costs are driving young families out of our borough. This means we have a declining number of children attending our schools. BUT the biggest problem is that the current Conservative government have cut school funding to the bone.

If there are less children in Lambeth schools, this should be an opportunity for smaller class sizes. Smaller class sizes would mean more attention for each child from an educator. It would mean more progress could be made. It would mean schools could give children a better education.

The council say there is nothing they can do. We say there is another way.

We are calling on parents, councillors, and educators to come together to campaign in protest of these plans. We need current and future governments to step in and save our schools. Together we can make education funding a key election issue and help force the government into promises on school funding.

We demand that Lambeth council drop these plans and join us in putting political pressure on the next incoming government to adequately fund our schools.
