Tell Your Reps: Stop Trump and his Cronies from Shutting Down the CFPB
Members of Congress
The Trump administration is stifling the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) because his friends in Big Tech don’t like the agency and its work to protect consumers and their rights. This move comes alongside other efforts to undermine core democratic institutions. Halting the CFPB’s work is disastrous for consumers. We need to preserve the agency and its ability to take action against companies that break the law or treat consumers unfairly.

President Trump and his Big Tech friends are trying to take down the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) because of its work to protect consumers from the abusive and deceptive practices of tech and other companies.
The CFPB has a track record of standing up for consumers rights and protecting them from corporate abuse. Since its formation in 2011, the CFPB has fought credit reporting agencies, discriminatory lending, predatory loans, and tenant screeners. More recently, it has been diving into the ways data brokers and tech companies profit off of sharing, selling, and exploiting users’ data.
We can’t let this administration get away with shutting down such an important agency and allowing tech companies to continue exploiting users without being checked. Now more than ever, we need representatives who are willing to stand up for us. Members of Congress have a responsibility to protect our democratic institutions. We cannot allow the Trump administration to shove agencies like the CFPB aside without doing everything we can to fight them.
I am urging lawmakers to fight this move through every avenue possible and protect constituents from unchecked abuse.
