Say NO to expanding Highway 183 from SH 71 to SH 130
Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT)

TxDOT proposes to expand ten miles of 183 from today’s four lanes to TWELVE LANES.
Sign our petition to say you OPPOSE this highway expansion!
What to expect from expanding 183:
MORE congestion and crashes.
SIX additional lanes of frontage roads.
Fewer local, accessible businesses in neighborhoods.
More spread-out communities that are harder to connect with public transit.
Land taken AGAIN from the historic Black-owned farm, THE ALEXANDER FARM.
Worse air quality in surrounding communities.
Expanding 183 would be another pointless and destructive highway expansion. We deserve regional rail, better local transit, and other community-supported projects!

I oppose the expansion of 183 from SH 71 to SH 130. Expanding another highway will only compound the stress of traffic, further divide and isolate us, and trap us in car ownership. It will impact our health, our finances, and our long-term quality of life.
Please reject the expansion of 183 and consider alternatives to expansion.
