Say No! to Project YAREN

Your voice matters. Speak up against Project YaREN to let these foreign industrial companies know they are not welcome here. We stand for a safer, healthier San Patricio County.

Project YaREN likes to paint itself as a caring, low-risk benefit to the community that will provide jobs, resources, and zero harm to the community.

The reality is a stark difference. This proposed ammonia facility threatens our air, water, and community safety, putting families, schools, and small businesses at risk. Constant requests for a safety plan have been ignored, and instead they attempt to placate us with gifts and vague promises on their social media pages. The promised jobs are short-term, but the pollution, health impacts, and risk of industrial accidents could last for generations.

San Patricio County deserves a strong and lasting future built on healthy families, safe schools, and thriving small businesses. Not one handed over to a dangerous, foreign-owned project that takes our tax dollars, water, and future.

Now is the time to act. Use the form to send a letter to local leaders, urging them to reject Project YaREN and protect what we love.

I am writing to express my strong opposition to Project YaREN in Ingleside. As someone who cares deeply about community health, safety, and the long-term well-being of San Patricio County, I believe this project is dangerous and shortsighted.

Why I oppose Project YaREN:

It puts our families at risk. Ammonia is a hazardous chemical. A leak, spill, or explosion could endanger nearby neighborhoods, schools, and small businesses. We have requested a clear safety plan on multiple occasions without any response.

The jobs are temporary. The company promotes 4,000 construction jobs, but those disappear after a few years. What remains are fewer permanent positions and the long-term burden of pollution.

It drains our resources. Project YaREN would use massive amounts of Gulf water, strain infrastructure, and rely on tax breaks — taking local resources while putting the risks on us. This is not something they can balance out by providing school supplies once a year.

It harms our coast. The facility threatens seagrass, fisheries, and marine life that sustain tourism and recreation. Industrial expansion has already damaged our bays and air quality.

It’s run by foreign corporations. Enbridge and Yara are multinational companies that profit abroad while local residents bear the health and safety risks. It is unlikely that Project YaREN could pass any of the health and environmental requirements in their own country, but are glad to bring those lower standards to the people of Texas.

Please stand with our community, families, and future generations by rejecting Project YaREN in any permitting or decision-making processes. San Patricio County should be the home to thriving families, a healthy community, and safe economic growth — not another dangerous petrochemical project.

Thank you for your time and your commitment to protecting our community.
