Build a Sidewalk on Good Hope Road
Isiah Leggett, County Executive
Good Hope Road is notoriously unsafe for pedestrians. A sidewalk is necessary to connect students to school bus stops, commuters to the Ride-On 39 stop, and families to local facilities like the Good Hope Rec Center, Spencerville Park, and Ahmadiyya Community Center.
The Good Hope Estates Civic Association has been petitioning for a sidewalk for nearly three decades (source: 1989 Newsletter), and the sidewalk has been "on the books" since 1991 (Part V.9. of the Cloverly Master Plan). It's about time we got some pedestrian safety improvements on Good Hope Road!
Please add a personal note in the "Comments" box. Even a couple of words will make a big difference when we take this petition to the County!

Please help make our community safer for pedestrians by funding the study and design of a sidewalk along Good Hope Road. This road is very dangerous for pedestrians, and our community has been petitioning for a sidewalk since 1989.
We understand this project has many challenges, but instead of seeing these as excuses for why the sidewalk should not be built, we want to collaborate with the County to resolve them. GHECA has offered several solutions for making this project possible, such as building the project in phases and identifying specific mitigation measures to comply with Special Protection Area (SPA) environmental regulations.
We ask to meet in person with our local councilmember, MCDOT, Parks & Planning, and the East County Regional Director to discuss solutions for moving forward.
