Sierra Club: Cancel Your Apartheid Tours
Sierra Club Board of Directors Chair, Ramon Cruz
We need to keep the pressure on Sierra Club to cancel their racist tours of apartheid Israel. We know that there is growing anger and discord within the organization about the newly announced March 2023 trip to Israel that continues to greenwash Israeli violence and its dispossession of the Palestinian people.
We must show Sierra Club that their nature outings to Israel are wrong and that our movement is stronger than the funders they are appeasing with this decision.

Dear Ramon Cruz,
We condemn Sierra Club’s trips to Israel that green light Israeli colonialism and harm Indigenous Palestinians.
To live up to its professed commitments to anti-racism and environmental justice, Sierra Club must cancel these apartheid tours.
In February, we demanded Sierra Club cancel Israel outings greenwashing Israeli colonization and its disastrous impact on the Palestinian people and their land. Sierra Club canceled two trips, but backtracked after pressure from Zionist groups.
Sierra Club’s planned “new” trips to Palestine still depend on Zionist consultants and trip leaders and include visits to Palestinians that tokenize, rather than address the grave political realities of Israeli occupation and settler colonialism. Israel is no environmentally friendly haven. While Israel continues bombing Gaza, poisons water resources, burns olive trees, and prevents Palestinians from access to their land, there is no gray area.
Sierra Club claims to be an anti-racist organization seeking justice, but there can be no environmental justice without Indigenous sovereignty and Indigenous people leading the way.
