Sign now: Tell Columbia Sports to stop using deadly PFAS chemicals in their products
Timothy Boyle, Columbia Sports CEO
PFAS are a family of approximately 12,000 dangerous synthetic chemicals used to make clothes water- and stain-resistant, and are often called “forever chemicals” because they are extremely resistant to breakdown.
But when those same clothes are made, washed, or disposed of, these chemicals contaminate our environment and drinking water, and can build up in our bodies causing severe health problems like cancer and thyroid disease, and even reduced response to vaccines.
While many leading apparel brands are reducing their use of PFAS, Columbia Sportswear is not, and we’re building a massive public pressure campaign against the retailer urging an end to the use of PFAS in their clothing! Together, with your voice as a consumer, Columbia will have no choice but to listen!
Sign the NRDC petition to Columbia Sports and tell them to stop using deadly PFAS chemicals in their products!

Dear CEO Timothy Boyle:
As a consumer, I strongly urge you to reconsider your use of harmful PFAS chemicals in Columbia Sportswear products. NRDC's recent PFAS scorecard of clothing retailers gave Columbia an F for its failure to act.
Toxic PFAS chemicals are linked to serious health problems such as cancer, thyroid disease, and resistance to vaccines. And when clothes with PFAS are made, washed, or disposed of, the chemicals seep into our waterways, contaminating drinking water, and build up into our bodies -- for years or even decades to come.
Other leading apparel brands are reducing their use of PFAS in their clothing products. Now, Columbia Sportswear must immediately end its use of PFAS chemicals to protect our health and environment. Until then, I will stand with NRDC in building public pressure for change within your company.
Thank you.
