Sign on to Hold Polluters Responsible!
Colorado Legislators

Are you concerned about the detrimental effects that air pollution imposes on you, your business, and the economy?
Air pollution wreaks havoc on many aspects of business operations from diminishing workforce productivity to increasing the need for medical care and time away from work. Delaying efforts to improve air quality amplifies the economic toll. Currently, some of our state’s biggest polluters are allowed to repeatedly break air quality laws while merely receiving a warning from Colorado's Air Pollution Control Division (APCD). Enforcement of air quality laws, increases in maximum fines for violations of our local air quality regulations and the enhanced transparency measures outlined in the Senate Air Quality Enforcement bill (SB24-166) will improve accountability and oversight for violators of Colorado air quality regulations.
Please join us in advocating for SB24-166 to enforce air quality laws and hold major polluters accountable for their violations, promoting a healthier, more sustainable future for Colorado residents and businesses. Good Business Colorado (GBC) is a grassroots organization of values-driven business owners across the state working together to build a prosperous economy, equitable communities, and a sustainable environment. Our members have identified air pollution as a top priority issue. That is why we are writing to ask you to vote yes for SB24-166 Air Quality Enforcement.
Our members are deeply concerned about the detrimental effects that air pollution imposes on their businesses and the economy. It diminishes workforce productivity, inflates healthcare expenses, increases instances of absenteeism, leads to premature fatalities, and decreases agricultural output. Delaying efforts to improve air quality amplifies the economic toll. Currently, some of our state’s biggest polluters are allowed to repeatedly break air quality laws without repercussions other than a warning from Colorado's Air Pollution Control Division (APCD). Increases in maximum fines for violations of our local air quality regulations and the enhanced transparency measures outlined in SB24-166, will improve accountability and oversight for violators of Colorado air quality regulations.
SB24-166 addresses crucial issues that are contributing to the lack of air quality enforcement and protection of disproportionately impacted communities. This bill gives much needed teeth to current regulations and will help alleviate Colorado’s struggle to reduce air pollution. By implementing these measures, we can improve air quality, protect vulnerable communities, and promote a healthier environment for all Coloradans.
Sincerely,
