Clean water protections, health and safety for farmworkers, and strong biodiversity measures depend on strong regulations from our federal agencies. We are not seeing the EPA take protective action right now. Instead, we see rollbacks on these protections and proposed introductions of new toxic pesticides.
In 2025, the EPA proposed 5 new PFAS pesticide active ingredients. Fluorinated pesticides are highly persistent in our environment. Long persistence of these compounds is why we refer to PFAS as "forever chemicals."
Join us in telling the EPA to turn off the tap on PFAS. Our communities are already overburdened by these forever chemicals. We do not need any new PFAS pesticides.

Dear Administrator Zedlin and the Office of Pesticide Programs,
We write to call attention to the troubling trend of PFAS pesticide active ingredient proposals under your administration. Using the OECD definition, at least five proposed new active ingredients meet the definition of PFAS: cyclobutrifluram, isocycloseram, diflufenican, trifludimoxazin, and epyrifenacil.
We urge the agency to change course on these new ingredients. Our communities are already overburdened by these forever chemicals. Our environments are continually found to contain levels of forever chemicals above EPA's advised thresholds for other PFAS compounds. Introducing new PFAS pesticide ingredients into the environment is a step in the wrong direction. These ingredients need to be fully and cumulatively evaluated for their potential lasting harm to drinking water, farmland, and public health. PFAS pesticides have potential to degrade into other forms of PFAS. EPA must not approve any new PFAS pesticides.
