Tucker Carlson, host of Fox News’ Tucker Carlson Tonight, is well known to be racist, misogynistic, and transphobic, and he lets his viewers know it. But he's just gotten worse.

On February 10, Carlson speculated that the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol was a "long planned conspiracy" by antifa and Black Lives Matter (with inside help by the FBI)—and even tied it to the death of George Floyd as part of a mass liberal scheme to disrupt the "old order."

Carlson's rant is toxic, because it feeds into all the bizarre & discredited theories that emboldened white supremacists to violently attack the Capitol in the first place. There had been growing calls last summer to fire Carlson after he defended vigilante murderer Kyle Rittenhouse, but his absurd insinuations about the January 6 attack are truly dangerous.

Fox News recently fired anchor Lou Dobbs, after the network was sued for defamation by a voting technology company. Dobbs had repeated discredited voter fraud conspiracies that falsely implicated the company, and Fox News reacted by dismissing the longtime anchor.

It is past time for Fox News to fire Tucker Carlson. Activists have been organizing for years to pressure advertisers to defund his racist, misogynistic television show—but now Carlson's uplifting of dangerous conspiracy theories are a threat to the country as a whole.
