Following Trump's promise to pardon those charged with the January 6 insurrection should he win re-election, Donald Trump lamented that then-Vice President Mike Pence did not overturn the 2020 election.

In a written statement, the former president said Pence had the right to "change the outcome," but did not "exercise that power," and "could have overturned the election."

In other words, Trump admitted to the world that he attempted a coup on January 6 by urging Pence overturn the will of voters. And if he runs for president in 2024, we can expect that he will try it once again.

The news media (at all levels, and across the political spectrum) must start treating Trump for what he is: a danger to our democracy and a threat to our government. And political leaders must prepare for the worst-case scenario in 2024, if he does attempt to do this again.
