Big Ag wants you to picture a red barn.

A family farm. A weathered fence. A farmer who has worked the same land for generations.

But behind that image is a food system increasingly controlled by some of the largest corporations in the world.

And the worst part? Our policymakers are helping them do it.

Massive meatpackers, chemical companies, corporate distributors, and powerful lobbying organizations have consolidated enormous power over how our food is grown, processed, sold, and regulated. And while they use independent farmers as the face of American agriculture, those same farmers are increasingly getting squeezed by the system Big Ag and their allies in Congress have built.

Wall Street uses the image of the family farmer to lobby for policies that protect corporate power. Teams of Big Ag lobbyists fight efforts to hold corporations accountable. A handful of corporations benefit from a system where the biggest operations capture an outsized share of taxpayer-funded support while independent farmers struggle to compete.

We call it the Red Barn Illusion.

And we're done letting them get away with deceiving us all.

American farmers deserve a food system where they can compete without being controlled by a handful of corporate gatekeepers. American families deserve healthy, affordable food without corporate giants reducing their choices to expensive low quality junk that drives corporate profits.  

It is time for Big Ag billionaires to stop using independent farmers as cover for corporate greed.
