🌸 The Spring Planting Pledge is a new initiative for 2026, organised by Hampshire kids and their grown ups who are worried about the climate crisis 🌸

🐝 Our aim: to create powerful pockets of biodiversity and renature our front gardens, lawns, flower beds, windowsills and driveways.

Why? The UK is one of the most nature-depleted countries on Earth. According to 2023’s State of Nature report, in the last 50 years alone, 54% of our flowering plants have been lost and pollinators have decreased by 18%. 97% of England’s flower-rich grasslands have been lost since the 1930s (source:B-lines project). Creating or restoring flower-rich habitats is vital to help protect wildlife and conserve our insect pollinators, which in turn support our food systems. Access to nature also supports our own health and well-being.

Our own spaces, however big or small, can be powerful. Together, the UK’s gardens are larger than all of our National Nature Reserves combined (source: The Wildlife Trust). Neat lawns, empty flowerbeds and too much concrete or paving don’t serve us, our pollinators or our planet. It’s time to come together and renature our spaces!

How to get involved:

🌷 Sign our pledge committing to plant native plants and wildflower seeds between March 21st and April 19th (inclusive of UK school Easter holidays).

✍️ When you sign up, you’ll get access to an information sheet with guidance on what to plant, where and when. We’ll also send you a print-at-home poster to put in your window, a colour-in poster and a colouring in sheet.
