Space Needle workers have received just one raise in the last four and a half years—an increase of $0.35 an hour two years ago. Meanwhile, the cost of living in Seattle keeps going up.
On January 30, 2015, the National Labor Relations Board found that Space Needle management violated federal labor law by undertaking a number of efforts aimed at discouraging workers from supporting or participating in their union.
Space Needle management has chosen to appeal the NLRB decision for the second time. Instead of raises, the company has offered a webinar to workers instructing them on how to "live on less."
