Grant Parole for Ramon Islas: Stage 4 Cancer Patient DEPORTED!

Secretary of DHS, Jeh Johnson and President Obama

Ramon was denied his first request for parole last week; we need your help to get ICE to grant his Medical Parole and to let him come home to his family. Ramon is just asking for a chance to get the medical care he can't get in Mexico, and to be allowed to live out his last days with his family by his side!

This is about life and death; make a call and tell ICE to do the right thing!

TAKE ACTION: MAKE A CALL

Call ICE in Washington D.C. @ 202-732-3000

"Hi, I was calling to ask that Ramon Islas (A#028-791-936) be granted Medical Parole. Ramon is dying, he has stage 4 cancer and the treatment he needs is not even available in Mexico. Ramon was previously granted Medical Parole a year ago, nothing has changed in his case except for his medical condition which is even more dire now then it was then. I ask you to grant Medical Parole to Ramon and allow him to live out his last days with his family by his side!"

I write to ask that you grant humanitarian parole for Ramon Islas (A#028-791-936) so that he can continue to receive treatment for his cancer. Ramon does not have much longer to live; he should be allowed to live out his last days with his family by his side.

Ramon has built his life in the United States, where he has lived since 1969, now, 46 years old, Ramon has a wife, children, grandchildren, adopted children, siblings, friends and a little league team that love and need him. Sadly, at this young age, Roman is dying from a stage IV malignant melanoma that has spread to his brain.

This past December 2014, despite having been previously granted Humanitarian Parole, Ramon was deported. Ramon was told by ICE in Phoenix that he was “now a priority for deportation given President Obama’s announcement of November 20th.”

Ramon now has a small room that he rents in Nogales, Sonora, where he lives alone, and rarely goes out due to fear and his illness. In order to receive treatment in Mexico, he would have to travel 4 hours by bus to Hermosillo, where his much needed chemotherapy would only be available once every six-months, as opposed to his needed bi-weekly chemo.

Ramon is quickly becoming weaker and the sadness he feels is turning into depression. The doctors told Ramon that he has little chance of surviving the cancer, and his family is preparing for his eminent death. The poor conditions in which Ramon is living in and the limited access to health care in Mexico are killing him faster.

Ramon and his family deserve to be together to enjoy the life that he has left. He has already missed two chemotherapy treatments, and is scheduled for a brain MRI on January 8, 2015. I ask that you immediately grant Humanitarian Parole for Ramon Islas (A#028-791-936).
