Stand with ATU 998! Demand Reinstatements!

The National Express

Employees should not face retaliation when their employer does not take action to protect them from workplace injury or illness!

Stand with ATU 998 and tell National Express to reinstate Taresar Cooper and Tyrone McShan NOW!

On April 22nd, Ms. Tracy Harrington, general manager for National Express operating the MCTS paratransit program, fired ATU Local 998 members Ms. Taresar Cooper and Mr. Tyrone McShan.

Mr. Tyrone McShan shared videos with his union explaining that he was using cleaning supplies he purchased personally to clean the van and avoid occupational exposure to COVID-19 , and expressing his hope that drivers and patients can remain safe given unavoidably close contact between them. Ms. Taresar Cooper did nothing more than forward those videos.

National Express actions are in violation of the following:

1. The collective bargaining agreement

2. The law

3. Occupational Health and Safety Act

4. The order of the Governor to protect the citizens of the State through social distancing and protective measures during this COVID-19 pandemic

These terminations are a message to all the National Express workers NOT to make any complaints or criticism of UNSAFE practices.

We are standing in solidarity with frontline transit workers from ATU 998 to demand that National Express reinstate Taresar Cooper and Tyrone McShan to their former position with no time lost (pay, seniority, etc)!
