State Employees Come Together for Collective Bargaining
Governor Steve Sisolak
During the Great Recession Nevada state employees were the backbone that kept our communities strong; taking pay-cuts and forgoing raises to ensure the vital public services we provide wouldn’t be interrupted. Yet, state employees are the only Nevada public service workers without the right to bargain for working conditions, wages and benefits. Currently, state officials make all the decisions about our work places and our compensation, without our input. Governor Sisolak supports collective bargaining, but it won’t become a reality without us coming together and leading the charge. By standing together through our union, AFSCME, we can have and a seat at the table and make our voices heard.

I join other state employees and our union, AFSCME, to thank you for standing with us in support of collective bargaining.
As a state employee, I’ve seen Nevada come back from some dark times. Through stagnate wages and pay cuts, we’ve continued to provide our communities with much needed services. Even though our state is stronger than ever, there are still many challenges we face in the workplace.
Collective bargaining will allow us to come together as AFSCME to ensure our voices are heard. State employees are the only Nevada public service workers without the right to negotiate working conditions, wages and benefits; and this must change. I look forward to working with you to bring collective bargaining to Nevada state employees.
